2014 年 8 月 3 日清晨，ISIS 出其不意地攻擊住在伊拉克北部辛賈爾及周遭村莊的雅茲迪人， 數千村民遭綁架和殺害，女性被性侵，甚至淪為性奴隸，時年二十一歲的娜迪雅.穆拉德也 不例外。娜迪雅僥倖逃出後，她決定說出自己的經歷，讓世人知曉雅茲迪人如何遭到迫害。 但西方世界的人們只是想聽她的受害經歷，為了替族人發聲，她唯有一次次重返創傷才能超 越名利以及所謂善意。
本片試圖探索娜迪雅與西方媒體、政治領袖之間複雜的關係、不斷重複述說的過程中產生的 言語空隙，以及創傷經驗的不可觸及性與外人無從想像的真實重量。

Nadia MURAD’s life is a dizzying array of exhausting undertakings—from giving testimony before the U.N. to visiting refugee camps to soul-bearing media interviews and one-on-one meetings with top government officials. The film follows this strong-willed young woman, who survived the 2014 genocide of the Yazidis in Northern Iraq and escaped the hands of ISIS to become a relentless beacon of hope for her people, even when at times she longs to lay aside this monumental burden and simply have an ordinary life.
