姚廣孝(1335年-1418年),幼名天僖,法名道衍,字斯道,又字獨暗,號獨庵老人、逃虛子。 長洲(今江蘇蘇州)人。 明朝政治家、佛學家,文學家,靖難之役的主要策劃者,中國歷史上最著名的黑衣宰相
姚廣孝年輕時在蘇州妙智庵出家為僧,精通三教,與明初儒釋道各家學術領袖都有不錯的關係。 洪武十五年,被明太祖挑選,以“臣奉白帽著王”結識燕王朱棣,主持慶壽寺,成為朱棣的主要謀士。 朱棣靖難第三年,姚廣孝留守北平,建議朱棣輕騎挺進,徑取南京,使得朱棣順利奪取南京,登基稱帝。 以區區燕地一方土地敵全國兵馬,且最終獲勝,歷史上絕無僅有。
成祖繼位後,姚廣孝擔任僧錄司左善世,又加太子少師,被稱為“黑衣宰相”。 負責遷都事宜,一手規劃今日北京城佈局。 而後在解縉編書失敗後又擔任了《永樂大典》和《明太祖實錄》的最高編撰官,尤其是《永樂大典》,這是他在中國文化歷史上的最大貢獻。 少師晚年,在明初期佛教漸成頹勢之際,又擔起護教(佛教)之責,整理了反排佛的《道餘錄》,為佛教史上一件大事。
永樂十六年(1418年),病逝慶壽寺,追贈榮國公,諡號恭靖。 皇帝親自撰寫神道碑銘,並以文臣身份入明祖廟,是明代第一人,也是唯一一人

Yao Guangxiao (1335-1418) was a young man named Tianyu. His name is daoyan, with the word Si Dao, and the word Du dark. He is called Du an old man and fugitive Xuzi. Yao Guangxiao became a monk in Miaozhi nunnery in Suzhou when he was young. He was proficient in the three religions and had a good relationship with academic leaders of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism in the early Ming Dynasty. In the 15th year of Hongwu, he was selected by the emperor Taizu of the Ming Dynasty to meet Zhu Di, king of the Yan Dynasty, presided over Qingshou temple and became Zhu Di’s main counselor. In the third year of Zhu Di’s Jingnan, Yao Guangxiao stayed in Peiping and suggested that Zhu Di advance lightly and take Nanjing, so that Zhu Di could successfully seize Nanjing and ascend the throne. It is unique in history that the country’s soldiers and horses were defeated by the land of only Yandi.
After Chengzu succeeded to the throne, Yao Guangxiao served as Zuo Shanshi, the monk record department, and added the prince’s junior teacher. He was known as the “prime minister in black”. Responsible for moving the capital and planning the layout of Beijing today. Later, after Xie Jin failed to compile the book, he served as the top editor of Yongle Dadian and the records of emperor Taizu of the Ming Dynasty, especially Yongle Dadian, which was his greatest contribution to the history of Chinese culture. In his later years, when Buddhism gradually declined in the early Ming Dynasty, Shaoshi took the responsibility of protecting Buddhism and sorted out the daoyulu, a major event in the history of Buddhism.
In the 16th year of Yongle (1418), Qingshou Temple died of illness and was presented to Duke Rong with the posthumous title of Gong Jing. The Emperor himself wrote Shinto inscriptions and entered the Ming ancestral temple as a literary minister. He was the first and only person in the Ming Dynasty
