Terrible and deadly floods in Brazil.
Floods hit Santa Catarina, a state in southern Brazil. The most affected area was Gran Florianópolis, especially the municipalities of Santo Amaro and Imperatriz, São José and Palhoça.
The rain that caused flooding in Santa Catarina resulted in two deaths, one in Palhoça and another in Brusque.
In Palhoça cayeron 389 millimeters of rain in four days, almost four times the usual volume for the entire month.
17 cities declared a state of emergency in Santa Catarina, according to the Civil Defense report, including Araquari, Joinville, São Bento do Sul, Luiz Alves, Corupá, Guaramirim, Rio dos Cedros, Campo Alegre, Santo Amaro da Imperatriz, Benedito Novo, Palhoça, Rancho Queimado, São José, Águas Mornas, Antônio Carlos, Warehouse and Anitapolis.
Apart from Santa Catarina, floods also hit Sao Paulo. In the East zone, rivers overflowed, and flooding stopped train movement.
In Vila Prudente, rainfall reached 32 millimeters. On the Peña it is 44 mm, and on Itaim Paulista it is 27 mm.
